Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

Two different things, and it is worth keeping them apart.

• About you: your name, email address, and a hashed password when you sign up, plus your credit balance and which reports you have unlocked
• About accounts you look up: the public profile information and the signals Piercr collects for that handle, along with the generated report
• If you connect an Instagram account: the session that login produces, so you do not have to sign in again
• Basic technical data such as request logs, which we use to keep the service running

2. Your Instagram password

Your Instagram password is used once, at the moment of signing in on our server, and is never stored. What we keep afterwards is the session. Disconnecting the account from your dashboard deletes that session.

Piercr signs in on our own server rather than in your browser because the login has to handle two-factor codes and verification screens and then hold a session. Nothing opens on your machine.

3. Why we collect it

• To run the service: look up accounts, generate reports, and show you your history
• To keep track of credits and what you have unlocked
• To keep accounts secure and investigate abuse
• To fix problems and improve how the product works

4. Who else sees it

We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it for advertising. To run the service, data passes through a small number of providers:

• Our database and hosting provider, where accounts and reports are stored
• A data provider that supplies public Instagram profile information
• A language model provider, which receives the collected profile data in order to write the report
• A proxy provider, used when reading Instagram, which sees the request but not your account details
• A live-chat provider, which handles support conversations and sees what you type into the chat window along with basic visit information such as your IP address and the page you are on
• Anyone we are legally required to disclose to

5. Reports about other people

A report describes someone who is not our user and has not agreed to anything. We take that seriously, so Piercr only ever reads what is already visible to someone permitted to see that account, never private messages, and never anything obtained by circumventing a privacy setting. Piercr does not follow, like, message, or otherwise interact with anyone on your behalf.

If you are the subject of a report and want it removed, contact us and we will delete it.

6. How long we keep it

Account data is kept while your account exists. Generated reports are cached so that opening one again does not re-run the analysis. If you delete your account we remove your personal data and any connected Instagram session within 30 days, other than anything we must retain by law.

7. Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can disconnect a connected Instagram account yourself at any time from your dashboard. Email hello@piercr.com and we will handle it.

8. Cookies

Piercr sets a cookie to keep you signed in. Our live-chat provider also sets its own cookies so a conversation continues if you reload or come back later. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

9. Age

Piercr is for adults. You must be 18 or over to use it.

10. Changes and contact
